Asking for advice!

Hey guys, I need your opinions/advice! I'm trying to work on creating a video QAL sampler style geared specifically for beginners. I kind of what to create my own blocks, but I think it might be easier if I went with some simple traditional blocks, just with a modern spin. What would you all prefer to see? I'm going to make it super simple so that I know without a doubt a very beginner will be able to make these blocks. But I also want to be able to teach a different technique with each block.

So, what do you all think? Do you have any block recommendations? Any ideas for it AT ALL would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

P.S. I've got a mini quilt that I am beyond excited to share with you guys very soon! I believe I'm going to be doing a tutorial on how I made it too! I got a great response when I shared the WIP on social media (and I made it as part of a swap and really really loved it, so I have to make one for myself!)

Make sure you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, I am ALWAYS posting fun stuff there. I just recently had a pretty successful instasale too!!! You can follow me on Twitter through this link
and you can follow me on Instagram through this link! I hope to see you all there!

And if you are not already go to my YouTube channel and subscribe so you don't miss any future videos!!! I would really appreciate it!
Thank you for all of your help!

~Hope y'all are having a GREAT day!!!!~

I would just say no to the 9 patch. Probably the worst block to start anyone on. Requires precise cutting, which beginners aren't used to, precise seams, again not great for beginners, and precise nesting. Any block that doesn't require all of those at the same time would be great. Like blocks with HST's. those you can make a bit bigger then trim to size which I think is helpful. So pinwheels, Ohio Stars or wonky stars. Improv, paper piece, strip piecing. Log cabin, wonky log cabin, improv curves, feathers, those triangle/tulip blocks, the stack of books block. Maybe even some appliqué or reverse appliqué.

Kelie, would you like a collaborator? I think a beginner QAL that highlights a different skill with each block (or 2) is a fabulous idea! I've been mulling over a similar idea myself for some time.

If you don't want to take it on all by yourself, let me know! Perhaps working together can both lighten the load AND keep us motivated??
